Great for airplane panel cutting!

I ordered a one-off sheet aluminum cutting -- needed to cut and powder-coat an instrument panel for a small airplane (~42 x 14 in sheet of metal with precisely positioned holes). Some other places were either refusing to do powder coating on a part that big, or were charging ~$1k for a "full airplane panel job" (aviation upcharge :)). Xometry did it fast (less than a month between placing the order and delivery), well, and almost 4x cheaper. I also had a very smooth interaction with customer service (ordered wrong metal thickness at first, so I placed another order and emailed asking to cancel the first order). One thing I could not find and I wish they had is laser engraving.

My parts were delivered 9 days early, and the quality of the work was excellent. As an old toolmaker,that thinks no one can match the craftsmanship or excellence of work that I have done for 35 years. You guys at Xometry can consider it being an honor, for me to compliment you guys on the parts I received. So much that I have committed the rest of my career to buying my parts from Xometry.

Great Experience purchasing custom machined parts from Xometry! The on-line ordering was user-friendly, few questions I asked via email were answered promptly, communication regarding order progress was constant and accurate, and parts were exactly as specified in submitted documents. Highly recommend!!

The process was easy and efficient. The parts were received on schedule. The quality was good though the parts were not clean unless the process resulted in surface staining. Not critical to the part, just an observation.

Excellent customer service. I dealt with several reps over the phone and via email and they were very helpful. As a first time customer using 3D printing, they took the time to explain their printing process and the different options of materials. They also assisted me in using their site to upload my CAD file and select the options that will get the results I was seeking. They were patient and seemed to genuinely want me to be satisfied with my product.

Cannot deliver against stated standards.

Placed a significant order of +£1000 for SLS prints as part of a pre production trial. Final parts will be injection moulded from PP so we were please to see this offered as a material choice. Stated SLS tolerances on the Xometry website are 0.3% (+-0.3mm) which was fine for our application so we placed an order.

The parts we received back 10 days later were some of the worst prints I've seen, warped, heavy stratification, and way out of tolerance. In some instances almost a full 1mm over/under size - with part to part variance being similarly bad.

When raising the issue with Xometry we initially had trouble reaching anyone on the phone - with the number just ringing out, when we finally got an email response we were basically told that the stated tolerances were not achievable in PP ,that wider tolerances would have been agreed with the manufacturer, and that against this standard the parts were in spec.

At no point either before or after ordering were we consulted or informed that the standard tolerances wouldn't be achievable, no explanation was given as to how the visual defects and warp were not picked up during QC.

We have been left without properly serviceable parts at short notice, without adequate resolution.

Some advice for prospective customers....

If your company is considering using them, Don't.
There are better options out there. might be fine for hobbyists or those seeking non critical prints, but they cannot deliver the level of quality they state.

I had replacement parts made for my classic Beogram turntable. Quotation was quick and easy, parts were made and shipped promptly, and they met dimensional and strength requirements.
